Description of Organization:
It is the mission of the Humanitarian Service Project to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty brings to needy seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, IL without distinction of gender, race, creed, caste, or color. This is done through their four programs: The Christmas Offering, The Senior Citizen Project, The Children’s Birthday Project, and Feed the Kids Program.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Assist with sorting and shelving non-perishable food for the Senior Citizen Project and Feed the Kids Project; assist with shelving of toys and books, selecting toys and boxing birthday gifts for the Children’s Birthday Project; help move food and toys to and from storage area; calling and interviewing seniors in the Senior Citizen Project for their annual updates.
