Description of Organization:
The mission of Garden Center Services is to serve persons with disabilities in an environment which empowers them to maximize their potential for growth through informed choices.
Description of Service Learner Role:
The Job Coach assists the Community Employment Services Manager with job development and employment preparation activities for individuals with disabilities. Job coaching is a step-by-step process that will enable an individual to gain greater independence and build self-esteem. This is an opportunity to work directly with adults with disabilities and help them discover personal strengths, and make effective choices for successful and satisfying employment.
- Develop resumes based on employment choices and previous work experience.
- Assist individuals to identify employment preferences through exposure to various employment opportunities within the community.
- Coach individuals to gain poise and develop presentation skills in the job interview process.
- Accept referrals from community agencies, job fairs and private parties and prepare documentation for individuals to begin service
- After job placement, assess, train and monitor employee on all aspects of job performance
- Maintain Community Employment Services board
