Description of Organization:
The mission of the Forest Preserve District is "...to acquire...and hold lands...for the purpose of protecting and preserving flora, fauna and scenic beauties...for the purpose of the education, pleasure and recreation of the public." Volunteers share their SPIRIT – Skill, Passion, Imagination, Respect, Inspiration, and Time at Nature workdays, Special Events and at the Educational sites throughout the district.
Description of Service Learner Role:
At Nature Restoration workdays - Cut brush, Plant seeds, collect seeds, and remove exotic weeds.
Organization Requirements:
All volunteers are required to bring a waiver form to the workday (visit www.dupageforest.com Click GET INVOLVED then VOLUNTEER to download waiver form) All volunteers must register for workdays at least 5 days in advance by calling 630-933-7681. Dress in layers and bring work gloves. No shorts or open-toe shoes, even in warm months. Bring water, bug spray and sun screen for your comfort. Orientation and safety guidelines provided on first visit. Arrive 10 minutes before the start of the workday.
