Description of Organization:
They provide a variety of year-round recreational, environmental and educational programs. They have facilities and park areas to meet the needs and interest of residents in the community.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Work with land management, collect prairie seed, pull weeds, clear brush and help maintain trails.
Lead groups on tours of their native prairie or oak woods. Staff the nature center, greet and direct visitors to exhibits and trails or work with special events. Help the museum organize collections, work with the inventory and research of local history. Interact with seniors - assist with activities like Bingo (4th Wednesday of each month) or help set up/serve food at Koffee Klub and monthly parties. Work with children in nursery, Kidzone, or special event activities teaching crafts/games. Assist with swim lessons in the spring/summer.
