
Introduction
The Institutional Portrait 2005-06 profiles the College of DuPage as
an institution. This report has been designed to provide a quick, easy-to-read reference
regarding the college. It is organized to answer the most frequently asked
questions about the institution, much the same as the Student Portrait
is organized to answer the most frequently asked questions about our student
population.
The Institutional Portrait contains information on facilities and
land, finance, C.O.D. staff, college/student services, the Library, athletics,
institutional calendars, maps, etc. It provides an overall picture of what the
college offers and what the college looks like. This report reflects the
college structure as of October 2005 (unless otherwise indicated) and includes
the college Mission, Philosophy, Shared Ethical Values, Academic Quality Improvement Project (AQIP) Criteria, and Spirit of
Service.

Highlights
- In
August 2005, C.O.D. converted its academic calendar from three 10- to 12- week
quarters to two semesters.
- Initial purchase
of C.O.D. land was for $2,188,000. The current replacement cost for all land and
facilities is $137,000,000+.
- District 502
includes most of DuPage County, a portion of Cook County, and a portion of Will
County.
- There are 48
communities (or a portion of the community) within District 502.
- C.O.D. has
16 buildings (main campus and regional centers). The main campus and the
regional centers have a combined total of 4,422,172
square feet of usable space.
- The college has
140 general purpose and specialized computer labs and a total of 4,380 computers
for students, faculty, and staff.
- When the
college first opened its doors in 1967, the Fall Quarter’s enrollment was
2,619. Enrollment for Fall Semester 2005 is 30,092.
- There are 54
occupational programs and 46 transfer area programs offered at C.O.D.
- The college
has a total staff of 3,384 including faculty (full- and part-time), administrators, classified staff
(full- and part-time),
and student aides.
