LTA -
Your Way!
Course Offering Modalities
Merriam Webster's dictionary defines a mode as a particular form or variety of something. The library technology program offers three modalities for learning. Choose the one that works best for you, or mix them up to accommodate your schedule!
On-Site Two-Way On-Line
Traditional classroom courses are offered on campus and usually take place in a classroom in the College of DuPage library.

Instructors are using Internet technology in the on-campus classes and most have an Internet component, as well as, traditional face-to-face sessions.

Students should have an email address and be familiar with basic word processing and Internet searching in preparation for all library technology classes.

Two-way video classes are offered throughout the state of Illinois in our LTA Illinois program. Students attend class together and see and talk to their instructor using television equipment.

The current locations are:

  • Heritage Trail Library System, Shorewood, IL
  • Northern Illinois Library System, Rockford, IL
  • Olivet Nazarene University
    Benner Library, Bourbonnais, IL
  • Prairie State Community College Matteson Area Center, Matteson IL
  • Rolling Prairie Library System, Decatur, IL
  • Suburban Library System,
    Burr Ridge, IL

New locations may be added based on the need and requests from different areas throughout the state.

The newest offering in the Library Technology Program consists of Internet classes.

These classes do not meet. All course sessions are done through the Internet.

Students complete  assignments at their own place and at times that work for them.

Students communicate through email and the Internet.
