Purpose:
To award a student of African-American heritage pursuing a certificate/
degree, transfer preparation, or occupational/vocational career
Eligibility:
• Must come from a family in which at least one of the parents
is of Black/African American ancestry
• Must be a BSU member and have participated in or contributed
a minimum of 15 hours to BSU meetings, activities and/or projects
• Must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours
• Must have completed less than 96 semester hours/equivalent.
• Must have and maintain a 2.5 GPA
• File 07-08 FAFSA. COD must receive information electronically
by the deadline date.
• Must include most recent transcript (C.O.D., high school, other
college transcript) or ACT, SAT or GED scores
• Must provide a 300-350 word essay on your future goals and what
you have already done to contribute to the African American community,
how it has impacted you, and how you would plan to contribute to the
African American community in the future
• Include letter of recommendation from instructor, advisor, counselor,
member of the community or community agency
