Survey of Medieval Archaeology

Storm the ramparts and explore the physical remains of the Post Roman through Medieval worlds! This course takes students on an exploration of the world of Medieval archaeology, addressing questions such as why do such archaeology, what we stand to learn, and why preservation of sites dating to this era is urgently needed. The course will focus on examples from the English-speaking world, though occasional forays will be made into other parts of the Old World. Students need no special background to enroll in this course, just a willingness to learn about and explore the past. For further information contact Dr. John Staeck, 630-942-2022.
