Student Body
President
Elisa Stough
Brief Biographical Description:
Major at C.O.D.: Associates of
Arts degree
How I plan to assist students at C.O.D.: I will
use my leadership training and skills to give the students of College
of DuPage a voice. Because I am widely involved in student activities,
I know that we need a voice in decisions that affect us. As Student
Body President, I will be visible on campus, active in student affairs,
and your voice during board meetings.
Interesting piece of info about myself: participated
in Feed My Starving Children, Trick-o-Treat for UNICEF, and made
cards for the elderly at Brighton Gardens. I volunteer at my church’s
nursery on Sunday.
I grew up and currently live in Wheaton. I am going
to College of DuPage for my Associates of Arts Degree. I don’t
know what I want to major in yet but I’m interested in Education,
Foreign Services, International Business, or Sociology. When I started
at COD, I wanted to get involved. I am in the Honors Program and
really enjoy the challenge that the classes bring. I am a part of
the Student Leadership Counsel (SLC) and attend the weekly meetings.
I participate in the Service Committee of SLC, which tries to do
one or more service projects a month. I am on the College Nationwide
Traffic Appeals Committee that reviews the traffic appeals of the
students at COD. I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa; the chapter of
National Honors Society for Junior Colleges. I have attended ICCSAA,
a weekend long retreat on how to be a more effective leader. I like
to maintain my athletic abilities by running on the Track and Field
team for COD. All these things have connected me further with College
of DuPage and the students that go there.
Outside of school I work for Quidlibet, a research
company where I do data and website organization. I spend a lot
of hours volunteering because I feel giving back to the community
is extremely important. I volunteer at my church’s nursery
and have coached a soccer team there as well. I donated my time
to Feed My Starving Children, a food packaging organization that
provides food to starving nations. I worked with the Trick-o-Treat
for UNICEF in October, which donated spare change to the UNICEF
Foundation. I also love to travel and have taught English in a Spanish
school in Costa Rica and spent last summer teamed up with Spanish
students in an Expo in Zaragoza, Spain.
