Sources Specific to Distance Learning

The Illinois Virtual Campus - A clearinghouse directory of Internet and other forms of distance learning offered by college providers in Illinois covers non-credit courses through graduate school training. Links to the college websites for their Internet courses and support services including an e-mail link to advisors at the individual schools.

Colleges and Programs Offering Distance Learning Peterson’s Guide to Distance Learning programs which are on-line and indexed by institution, courses and programs of study. This is the companion to the above listed source but for distance learning formats only. Use this resource to explore all of the possibilities and opportunities to conveniently learn at a distance from colleges around the nation.

Home Pages of Colleges and Universities- Links organized by 2-year and 4-year by state. This directory service is provided by the University of Texas at Austin.

The World Lecture Hall If you would like to explore by subject area most of the course materials being offered over the Internet today this is the primary source. View web pages developed by faculty world wide including syllabi, lecture notes and exams. This will give the prospective distance learner an understanding of the learning environments and expectations offered by on-line courses.

e-learners.com - A very comprehensive web site of online delivered course offerings nation wide and a variety of related information about learning online. Has excellent related links section for distance learners.

World-wide Learning - This is a full service web site for anyone exploring and considering Online learning via the Internet. Includes links to courses world wide by broad subject area including both college level credit and continuing education training. This site also presents many tutorials and guides for those just getting into Online learning who need to learn how to use the various tools to navigate and communicate over the WWW.

Directory of Online Courses – Not a university but a complete indexed source of 3700+ courses offered on-line by 120 accredited course providers offering college level course work. Includes an index of articles and programs of study as well.

Internet Tutorials - Listed by subject and discipline, these links provide an introduction to the subject area resources available on the Internet.

Learn the Net – This is an online source for accessing "mini-courses" at no cost to gain familiarity with using and navigating on the Internet. Here you can learn the basics of how to download files, use E-Mail and how to use the different web browsers and conferencing software.
