English 1105 (Appointment-Based) – Introduction to Technical Writing

COURSE DESCRIPTION
3 credit hours
A basic composition course primarily for students enrolled in occupational/technical programs. The course includes a variety of writing experiences: resumes, letters of application, abstracts, internal and external memos, papers using visuals as supporting documentation, job descriptions, and a long report (a feasibility study or research report). Prerequisites: Satisfactory score, as determined by the English faculty, on the English Composition Entrance Exam required prior to enrollment in English 1105, or a grade of “C” or better in English 1101 or its equivalent; and evidence of having met the Reading Competency Requirement. Course requires Reading Placement Test Score-Category One. (3 lecture hours)

EVALUATION/GRADING
Writing assignments. Tests are at the discretion of the instructor. A writing sample is required before first appointment.
