COURSE DESCRIPTION
Basic course in elements of essay organization and development. Students write essays utilizing writing process: invention, collection of supporting information, development of thesis statement, organization of ideas, multiple drafts/revisions, and editing. Emphasis is on learning to write and organize essays with specific rhetorical devices, such as description, example, and comparison/contrast. Course may be taken two times for credit.

ORIENTATION/ATTENDANCE
Attendance required at weekly appointment.
EVALUATION OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE
Students will complete written assignments and activities, as well as progress and mastery tests. Instructors will also evaluate students based on participation and observation of progress. Students may also be required to visiting the Writing Assistance Area during the term.
