COURSE DESCRIPTION

Prepares students for the use of the computer as a productivity tool. Fundamentals of how a computer works by understanding hardware and the distinctions between system software and application software. Hands-on projects will use microcomputer applications to teach concepts related to word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation graphics. Topics include creation and maintenance of folders and files, networks and information access using the Internet. 2 Credit Hours

EVALUATION/GRADING

Exams and Evaluations

The CIS 1110 course requires completion of 11 units and 4 tests. The following completion rules MUST be followed:

  1. Important
 Rules!The last day to submit Unit 1, Unit 2, and Exam 1 for credit is mid-semester. (Refer to your Course Information Sheet for this date.) After mid-semester, you will receive zero points for Unit 1, Unit 2, and Exam 1. You must submit this work, however, as a requirement of the course before the instructor will grade any other assignments or tests.  

2.   You can submit a maximum of two units in one calendar week. (Staple each unit separately.)

3.   You can take a maximum of two tests in one calendar week.

4.   You must complete all unit assignments and tests by the Deadline Date. 

 

No exceptions to these rules will be made – please plan accordingly.  See the Course Map in Section 2 of this Handbook.
