Fire Science 2215:
the Fire Service
Most fires are fought in, on, or around buildings. Not only are they a fire fighters workplace, but they also provide the greatest potential exposure for death and injury. Studying building construction allows the fire fighter to prepare themselves to be able to recognize potential collapse. This course will examine the materials used in building construction and how those materials will react under adverse conditions. An emphasis will be placed on recognizing construction features that will facilitate rapid fire growth and understanding how to properly assess risk on the fire ground.
