
Fire Service Instructor I provides the up to date information required to meet the modern job performance requirements as outlined by the National Fire Protection Association Standard 1041. (Standard for Fire Service Instructor Qualifications)
Admission is open to anyone who has a high school diploma or equivalent and
is at least 18 years old, but students who want to take this course should be enrolled in Fire Science classes.
Prerequisites: None. But to be certified, student must meet
the requirements listed below.
Fire Service Instructor I, meets or exceeds the requirements for certification of the Illinois Fire Marshal, Office (OSFM) of Personnel Standards and Education and the National Fire Protection Association Standard 1041 Fire Service Instructor qualifications.
To be certified as a Fire Service Instructor I in the State of Illinois, you must be on a fire department, be a certified Firefighter II, and have experience in Fire Suppression. If you do not live in Illinois, check with the authority having jurisdiction in your state about the requirements for certification.
This course is delivered online. Computer knowledge, access to a computer, having an internet service provider (such as AOL, MSN, etc), and knowing how to operate a computer are necessary to access this course and perform web searches. Communications will be asynchronous, and interacting with your fellow students will greatly enhance your learning experience. Students taking this course will have diverse knowledge and ideas should be shared. Course content will be broken into units and assignments will be due at the end of each unit. A schedule will be supplied when the student signs online to the course.
