Introduction to Facility Management

Land and buildings are critical components to our society. Facilities have become more complicated and require a higher degree of training to maintain. Creating greater value from real estate has become a very important part of the balance sheet. Facility and Property management is important to maintain the competitive advantage.

Who can enroll in the course?

Admission is open to anyone who is a high school graduate, or has earned a GED, and is at least 18 years old.


Course requires Reading Placement Test Score-Category One.

Are there National and State Certifications?

Introduction to the Facility Management does not have any National and State Certifications associated with the course. It does meet one of the course requirements of the Facility Management Degree and the Facility Management Certificate.

Structure of the course

This course is delivered totally online. Computer knowledge, access to a computer, having an Internet service provider (such as AOL, MSN, etc.), and knowing how to operate a computer are necessary to link to this course and do web searches. Course content is broken into units and assignments will be due at the end of each unit. A schedule will be supplied when the student signs online to the course. Because students taking this course have diverse knowledge, all participants are encouraged to regularly share their ideas and experiences.

Students meeting the requirements can enroll by calling the College of DuPage at (630) 942-2377 or register online using myACCESS. Click "How to use myACCESS" and follow the instructions.

It is suggested that students access each area in COD Online, prior to registration, to see if online learning is for them.
