Speech 1120 (Small Group Communication) emphasizes creative group projects and interactive online exercises to explore the study of leadership, group process and interpersonal relationships in the small group, conference and public forum.
In this 3 credit hour course, we will examine the roles we play that create or erode cohesiveness, tools to develop leadership skills and strategies to enhance problem-solving and manage conflict. We’ll also employ cutting edge online tools designed to conduct group meetings and presentations through technology. Like all speech communication courses, Speech 1120 offers an opportunity to create greater self-awareness and develop communication skills essential to success in our personal and professional lives.
Speech 1120 is an alternate option to Speech 1100 to meet the A.G.S. and A.A.S. General Education requirement. It also meets the Human Relations and Contemporary Life Skills requirements.
Speech 1120 requires Reading Placement Test Score-Category One.
Computer Experience and Equipment
Students interested in Speech 1120 online will need regular access to a computer with Internet capabilities, a web cam, and microphone. Students will also need to create a free Skype account to use with presentations.
