Study of the theories and principles of ethics as applied to the major areas of biomedical ethical concern: moral problems in the professional/patient relationship, in life and death, in allocation of scarce medical resources, and in medical and health care on a social scale. Current issues such as abortion, euthanasia and genetic research are considered.
