Online Weight Training I
We’ve taken what was traditionally an activity class and turned it
upside down to give the online student an opportunity to experience
weight lifting from a different perspective. This class is designed for
everyone from the person who has never lifted weights before, to those
who may be preparing to sit for a national personal training
certification. Are you interested?
The College of DuPage Course Catalog describes this course as
follows:
1 credit hour
An introduction to weight training. Application of the fundamentals
of strength training through the use of machine and free weights.
Basic anatomy and physiology associated with weight training and
safe lifting procedures. (2 lab hours)
It is all of this and more! Through the use of the National Strength
and Conditioning Association's exercise technique manual with companion
DVD’s included, you will be well on your way to expanding your exercise
know how.
This class involves a lot of work, more so than its “in the weight
room” counterpart. There are weekly assignments, and four tests that
will be administered throughout the semester. There are no prerequisites
for this course; however those students who have taken an online class
before will have an advantage. Students who have taken or have a
background in Human Anatomy and Physiology will also have an advantage.
If you have ever been interested in starting a weight training
program, or learning more about the proper form for more than 57
different weight lifting exercises, then this is the class for you.
