Introduction to Humanities I: The Arts

This course introduces the progression of artistic developments and ideas that gave rise to Western civilization.

In this course, you will explore:

	Stages in western civilization beginning with the paleolithic
	The rich heritage of the ancient Mediterranean and its complex cultures
	The rise of Christianity and the world of the Middle Ages
	The rebirth of humanism and the age of the Renaissance and Discovery
	The power of the monarchs and the exuberance of the Baroque
	The rise of the industrial age and the social struggles of the 19^th century
	The tumultuous 20^th century and it’s search for expression

Doing humanities online enables participants to expand their abilities to use new technology and learn to evaluate the wealth of resources available on the web. Sharing ideas and writing essays improves communication skills while the internet helps exploration and discovery.

This is a five credit hour course.
