The transition from company officer to Chief Officer is perhaps the second most important and potentially the most difficult change in your entire fire service career. This course, Fire Leadership IV, will help you advance in achieving that goal.
Anyone who has completed Fire Science 2253: Fire Leadership III.
Prerequisites: Fire Leadership III or consent of the instructor.
Fire Leadership IV meets or exceeds the requirements for certification by the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Office of Personnel Standards and Education and the National Fire Protection Association Standard 1021, Fire Officer Professional Qualifications leading to certification as a Fire Officer II. To be certified as a Fire Officer II in the State of Illinois you must be on a fire department, be a certified Fire Fighter II, and pass all of the classes for Fire Officer II certification as specified by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office. If you do not live in Illinois, check with the local authority having jurisdiction, in your state, about the state requirements for certification.
