This course focuses on composing longer (500-word) essays and on further developing critical thinking skills. Students will use invention strategies, such as brainstorming, freewriting, and response journals, and organizational strategies, such as using a controlling idea/thesis, using the essay structure of introduction, body, and conclusion, and considering audience and purpose. Students will also work on revising, editing, and proofreading. This course may require visits to the Learning Commons.
