Criminal Justice 1112: Crime Prevention

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the field of criminal justice will continue to experience average growth over the next 6 years. This means that a demand for qualified practitioners will remain fairly steady. The College of DuPage understands the demands some professionals and students have on their lives and provides a convenient online course to assist those with other commitments. If you want to get a job in the field of homeland security, criminal justice, or pursue a promotion in your current career, an associate degree or certificate will help prepare you.

Crime Prevention is one of several courses offered at the College of DuPage to help you get started accomplishing your goals. In this particular course, students will get an overview of crime prevention strategies from an individual and community perspective, including a discussion and analysis of neighborhood watch programs, home security strategies and personal security tactics. School based and age-specific community crime prevention programs and the application of technology to crime prevention problems are discussed.

Students who register for this course should expect to spend from 4 - 6 hours a week working on their selected reading materials, course assignments and completing online discussions.
