Course Overview This course introduces students to object oriented, event-driven programming in the Windows environment and to design techniques used to create the Windows Graphical User Interface. The topics include GUI design concepts, variables, constants, assignment, sequence, selection, repetition, controls, variable arrays, sequential and random access files, sub procedures and function and parameter passing. For this course, the student will be programming using Microsoft Visual Basic.NET for Windows. The Standard Edition of Visual Basic.NET 2003 comes with the class text. This on-line course combines textbook readings with hands on programming labs and assignments. Requirements The course prerequisite is CIS 1130 and 1400 or consent of instructor. Course Prerequisite In addition to the textbook, which comes with Visual Basic.NET 2003 Standard Edition, you will need to use a computer with the Windows XP operating system.
