Returning for my third year of College of DuPage and second year on the Courier, I am excited to take the reins as Editor in Chief. Coming to the college without knowing what I wanted to pursue I signed up for Intro to Mass Communications and went to the Courier’s Open House. I feel that through the journalism classes and my experience on the Courier that I have learned so much about the field. With a great deal of physical change happening around the college and a whole new staff the possibilities seem endless. I hope to do my best to provide the college with an excellent newspaper with quality content!

Shawn Mukherji, News Editor
630-942-2153, news@cod.edu

Graduating from high school in spring of 2010 and just having vague ideas of what I wanted to do career wise, I decided to attend College of DuPage to give myself some time to figure it out. Over the summer of 2010 I took a Mass Communications course and enjoyed it a lot. I have always been a good writer so pursuing journalism seemed like the right way to go. After being a part of the Courier for a year, I definitely think I made the right choice because I¹m enjoying every part of it, from researching to interviewing. I hope to leave a positive impact on college students as the Graphics Editor while becoming a better journalist by developing new skills and enhancing current ones.

Chris Johnson, Photo Editor

Since I can remember I've been making pictures but it wasn't until I took a
photo class at my local community college that I got this idea in my head of
making a career out of it. After completing my Associates at Triton College
I came to College of Dupage to more readily pursue a career in photography.
After putzing around the photography department for a few semesters I took a
course on photojournalism and knew instantly what I was going to do in the
world of photography.

Elise Anderson, Graphics Editor

630-942-3113, graphics@cod.edu

I began my college career at College of DuPage and later transferred to Illinois State University. In 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. I began to realize that writing was my true passion and decided to put pen-to-paper through taking journalism classes while fulfilling the role of Student News Editor. In this position I had the privilege of interviewing a variety of people on a wide span of topics while demonstrating my ability to meet tight deadlines on a weekly basis. The following semester my role switched over to the Graphics Editor position, where I am responsible for managing the paper in its final production stages before it is sent to the printer. Along with my duties in Graphics, I am currently assisting the Courier Advertising Coordinator where I hope to learn, grow and gain further experience in marketing that I can utilize throughout my future career in marketing.

You’ll always find me in the middle of reading a few books, marking up a magazine, or cutting out something from the paper. I’ve always been a reader and drawn to the world of publishing. I received my bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. My career began in sales and marketing at a local, independent trade book publisher. I then expanded my account executive role at a niche magazine publisher and managed national consumer, trade, and education accounts. I value connecting a client to the audience that can benefit from their product or service. When I’m not calling on clients or laying out the ads in the paper, I enjoy spending time with my two young children and being reminded to not take for granted the little things in life.
