What is the right class for me?
Adult instruction is provided in more than a dozen languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Czech, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. Students are immersed in the language and culture through in-class conversations, textbook exercises and videos. Most languages offer beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of instruction.

Continuing levels of adult study are also available in French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish. To help students determine their own appropriate level for continuing study, we recommend the following:

Conversation II courses are for students with 20 previous hours of conversational language instruction.

Conversation III meets the needs of those with 40 hours of previous language instruction.

Intermediate courses are recommended for those with a solid year of conversational language instruction or the equivalent of a university 101 course.

Conversation and Grammar courses are for those with two or more years of study who wish to continue improving their oral language skills and language usage.

Advanced Conversation classes are offered for those who speak with confidence and wish to be challenged to improve their skills through weekly discussions and readings.
