Community Devlopment

Mission:
The Office of Community Development collaborates with C.O.D. units and community-based organizations to leverage resources to produce positive and sustained community development within District 502.

Activities and Programs Include:
COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT
Interviews of community leaders and surveys of community members are used to identify educational needs of underserved sectors of District 502.

PUBLIC POLICY INSTITUTE
Students and other community members are engaged in workshops and forums based on the National Issues Forums (NIF) approach to discussing critical community and national issues. 

SPEAKERS BUREAU
A service that provides expert speakers from College of DuPage faculty and staff to community organizations.  Call (630) 942-2588 or visit Speakers Bureau.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BREAKFAST
Co-sponsored by College of DuPage and Benedictine University, the Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast is held in January on the national holiday.  It is a scholarship fundraiser that features a keynote speaker and breakout sessions for a diverse gathering of community members. 

COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS
Co-sponsor of ACT-SO ; coordinate Pathfinder program ; co-sponsor of “Youth ’07: Youth Leadership and Technology Fair”; co-sponsor of Camp Wellstone workshop to promote political and civic engagement; founding partner of Regional Summit on Civic Education.
