C.O.D. provides an athletic training student-worker the chance to stay involved in athletic training while completing general education requirements and athletic training specific classes for transfer into an accredited athletic training education program. Being an athletic training student-worker is an educational experience hard to duplicate. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with staff athletic trainers, physicians, and student-athletes at C.O.D. Under supervision, you will learn about every day operations, immediate care, and continual maintenance of the health of our student-athletes. Athletic training student-workers learn to recognize, and treat athletic injuries in addition to being exposed to many opportunities to acquire skills that will be beneficial in all health care fields. After spending time as an athletic training student-worker our students typically pursue an undergraduate education in athletic training, physical therapy, and other allied health care professions. C.O.D. sponsors 17 intercollegiate athletic programs and the athletic department has been honored as among the most successful community college athletic programs in the country. Prior knowledge, experience, or training is not necessary. General knowledge of human anatomy and/or athletic injuries is helpful. First aid and CPR certification are required and will be provided for you. Facilities When the multi-million dollar renovation of the C.O.D. athletic fields and facilities is complete the athletic complex will be one of the finest and comparable to many division I facilities.
