Certified Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who
specialize in preventing, recognizing, managing, rehabilitating, and
reconditioning injuries occurring from physical activity.
As part of a complete health care team, the certified athletic trainer
works in cooperation with licensed physicians, other health care
professionals, athletic administrators, coaches and parents. The
primary goal of the athletic training staff is to provide health care
for student-athletes competing for C.O.D.
Athletic trainers are an integral part of every collegiate athletic
program to ensure that student-athletes are competing in a safe and
healthy environment. A staff athletic trainer supervises all high-risk
sport activities. In the event of an injury the athletic trainer
evaluates the injury, provides immediate care, and may make a referral
for further evaluation if necessary, initiates treatment and develops
rehabilitation programs.
C.O.D. is one of few NJCAA institutions employing multiple
Certified Athletic Trainers, all holding master's degrees, and work
experience with Division I schools and professional sports teams.
