Set in Soviet Russia, Cinzano and Smirnova’s Birthday are companion plays about how one momentarily escapes from the lives each have set for themselves. In the masculine piece, Cinzano, three friends meet to drink and discuss their woes and wants. Smirnova’s Birthday acts as the feminine counterpoint, in which the women in the Cinzano men’s lives meet to honor a birthday.StageWorks

MAC Courtyard (Studio Theatre, Rainstage)Back by popular demand, this show continues College Theater’s tradition of family theatrical fare in the pleasant Arts Center Courtyard. Scripted through improvisation and interweaving the characters from both of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, such as the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, Alice and more, the final production looks at what might have happened in both Wonderland and Alice’s world BEFORE she went on her adventures, ultimately helping us learn the lessons of community, patience and tolerance. Bring your picnic baskets, blankets or lawn chairs, and join us for some interactive fun. You may then want to see the full version of Alice in Wonderland (see below), which College Theater is producing in repertory with this production.
