New Classic Singers, Lee R. Kesselman, Music Director
Barber, Adagio for Strings — Agnus Dei; Copland, Old American Songs; Lofstrom, Trumpet Concertino, Illinois premiere; Steve Orejudos, trumpet
In a unique collaboration, Hubbard Street 2 dancers join New Philharmonic musicians on one stage for an evening of contemporary dance set to the soaring strains of a live orchestra. This bold partnership will premiere a newly choreographed work and a piece from the Hubbard Street 2 repertoire.
New Classic Singers, under the direction of Lee R. Kesselman, joining New Philharmonic in Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs, which includes favorites like “Simple Gifts” and “At the River.” In an eight-part blend the chorus performs Samuel Barber’s haunting Adagio for Strings — Agnus Dei. Doug Lofstrom returns with the Illinois premiere of his Trumpet Concertino.
