Facts About the Collection

The College Art Collection consists of 148 individual artworks valued at $831,450.

The collection is housed in both public and office spaces in the Academic Computing Center, Student Resource Center and Library, Instructional Center, Arts Center, Physical Education and Community Recreation Center and the Open Campus Center.

A Campus Art Collection catalog (published 1998, 2000) was funded by the College of DuPage Foundation. An updated catalog will soon be published and available to the public for free guided tours.

The college’s first acquisitions were made in 1983 through the Illinois Arts Council Percentage for the Arts Program. This program required 1% of new building construction budgets go toward purchasing art works for new buildings. Jerry Peart’s Rainbow Dancer, 1982 outside Student Resource Center and Thomas Scarff’s Lightship Power, 1986 in the Arts Center lobby, were purchased with these funds along with many other smaller works.

The art collection consists of numerous art donations from local art collectors, businesses, artists and faculty. The College of DuPage Board of Trustees funded the outdoor sculpture, Conduit 15, 1986 by Mike Baur located between the Arts Center and Instructional Center.
