Additional new facilities helped transform the campus with the opening of the Culinary & Hospitality Center, the Sgt. Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center, the Student Services Center and the Campus Maintenance Center. Several existing buildings underwent extensive remodeling, including the Berg Instructional Center, Seaton Computing Center, McAninch Arts Center and Physical Education Center.
College of DuPage added more than 50 programs of study and introduced the nationally award-winning “3+1 program,” which allows students to earn a four-year bachelor’s degree with respected partner universities without leaving the COD campus.
In 2012, The College was awarded the Illinois Performance Excellence Bronze Award for Commitment to Excellence, making COD only the sixth community college recipient of this award since its inception in 1996. The College received the Governor’s Award for Academic Excellence in serving veterans, making COD the first community college recipient of this award from the Illinois Department of Veterans.
Dr. Robert L. Breuder served as the fifth president of College of DuPage. On April 30, 2015, Executive Vice President Joseph E. Collins was selected by the Board of Trustees to serve as Acting Interim President.
Dr. Ann Rondeau became the College’s sixth president, beginning her service on July 5, 2016. She is a past president of the National Defense University, a consortium of five colleges and nine research centers in Washington, DC. Dr. Rondeau retired from the U.S. Navy as a three-star admiral in 2012 and is the second woman to have achieved this rank.

Opened in fall 2011, the Staff Sgt. Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center is a comprehensive, multi-jurisdictional training center featuring a full-scale indoor street scene and a fully operational command center designed to instruct National Incident Management System protocols.
The Culinary & Hospitality Center, also opened in fall 2011, houses the Hospitality Administration and Culinary Arts programs. The new center doubled the space available for these programs, allowing for a 30 percent growth in enrollment and both fall/spring start dates.
The gleaming interior of the Culinary & Hospitality Center includes skills kitchens, a chocolate room for Pastry Arts, a culinary amphitheater for lectures and cooking demonstrations, the Culinary Market and Bake Shop, the Inn at Water’s Edge, and dining rooms where students can dazzle patrons with their culinary skills.
An eight-foot tall bronze sculpture of the COD mascot, the Chaparral, welcomes visitors to campus and sits in front of the Student Services Center, which opened in 2011.
