San Francisco, CA
Dominick Malzone has been interested in business since childhood.
“When I found out there are limitless opportunities, I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” he said.
Malzone selected College of DuPage because of its convenience and cost. What he also found was the new Emerging Entrepreneur program, or E2 for short, which pairs students with successful entrepreneurs and businesspeople. Through a variety of workshops, lectures, networking and one-on-one activities, the students gain the information they need to be successful, and many leave the program with business plans for their startups.
Malzone applied for the program because he had an idea for his own business and knew it would allow him to network with like-minded people.
“The E2 program interested me because I always have a thirst for knowledge,” he said. “My ultimate goal is to be a serial entrepreneur, with a handful of successfully launched businesses, and to become a venture capitalist. The E2 program has taught me a wide variety of skills, from starting to scaling a business. Most importantly, it has opened doors to valuable resources, which far exceeded my expectations.”
Building upon the skills he learned at COD, Malzone has moved to San Francisco “to be in all of the tech action.” He has developed a web site and is building apps.
He enjoyed participating in the E2 program and would recommend E2 to any student thinking about becoming an entrepreneur.
“The Emerging Entrepreneur program has been a great experience. It offers hands-on experience, great seminars with well-respected speakers, and a wide variety of knowledge that is useful for every person interested in business, regardless of industry. It is well worth the time as this program does not cost anything and has an application process that results in a group full of intelligent, well-rounded participants.”
