Mary
Clawson received her Master of Science
in counseling psychology from Benedictine University, and her Bachelor
of Arts degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University. She
was a rehabilitation counselor for a couple of years, working with
clients with developmental and emotional disabilities. She has worked
at College of DuPage for 16 years. She considers herself a generalist
who likes to work with students toward getting the most from their
college experience. This includes strategies for success, career
development, discussion of issues such as assertiveness and self-esteem,
and working with students having academic difficulties. Mary is also
the coordinator of the Independent Study program. In this program,
a student pursues a topic of special interest by designing a study
project that is supervised by a faculty member.
