Meet the Counseling Faculty

Mary Clawson received her Master of Science in counseling psychology from Benedictine University, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University. She was a rehabilitation counselor for a couple of years, working with clients with developmental and emotional disabilities. She has worked at College of DuPage for 16 years. She considers herself a generalist who likes to work with students toward getting the most from their college experience. This includes strategies for success, career development, discussion of issues such as assertiveness and self-esteem, and working with students having academic difficulties. Mary is also the coordinator of the Independent Study program. In this program, a student pursues a topic of special interest by designing a study project that is supervised by a faculty member.
