Degree Completion/Graduation
Completion of degree and certificate requirements is determined by the
Graduation Department of the Records office. Students in conjunction
with their adviser should be monitoring their progress through the Darwin
Degree Audit system. Students must file a Petition for
Degree or Certificate no sooner than two terms before expected completion
of requirements. Petitions are now available online. Download either
a Petition for Degree or Petition for Certificate.
Complete, sign and mail the form to the Graduation Department, Records
office. Codes for Certificates and Associates in Applied Science are located in the Catalog. Faxed forms will not be accepted. An official evaluation will
be provided to the student. All questions regarding the evaluation should
be referred to the Graduation Department, (630) 942-2261.
Commencement is held annually after spring term. All students who earn
a degree or certificate in the academic year (fall term through summer
term) may participate in the ceremony.

#-With
grade-repeated course
(Prior grade has been converted to “R.” Current term and
cumulated grade point averages have been updated to reflect prior “R.”
See below.)
1. Contact
your instructor if you believe the grade assigned for a particular course
is not correct.
2. If
the grade is a “*” or blank and the course was completed
by the last day of the term, contact the Records office at (630) 942-2440/2445.
If the course did not end by the last day of the term, the “*”
or blank is temporary and will be changed to a grade when the instructor
submits the grades to the Records office.
3. If
the grade is “I” (incomplete), an updated grade report for
the term will be mailed to you when the final grade is submitted by
the instructor to the Records office. Refer to the College of DuPage
Catalog, Academic Information, Academic Policy, for restrictions and
time limitations for completion of “I” grades.
4. The
“S” (satisfactory) grade earns credit but is not computed
in the grade point average. The “S” grade may not be changed
to a letter grade (A, B, C, D, F) nor may a letter grade be changed
to “S.” Contact the Graduation department at ext. 2261 for
restrictions in the applicability of “S” grades toward degree
requirements.
5. The
“X” (audit) grade does not earn credit and is not computed
in the grade point average.
6. If
the grade is “R,” it indicates that in a prior term you
were assigned a grade for the same course that was either the same or
was a higher grade than the grade assigned this term. The grade in the
prior term is maintained and continues to be computed in the grade point
average (unless it is an “S” grade). The “R”
grade earns no credit and is not computed in the grade point average,
since credit may be awarded only once.
7. If
the grade is followed by “#,” it indicates that in a prior
term you were assigned a grade for the same course that is either the
same or lower than the grade assigned this term. The prior grade has
been converted to “R” and the term and cumulative grade
point average have been updated to reflect the “R,” which
earns no credit and is not computed in the grade point average.
8. Courses
which are identified as Repeatable will have the grade and credit recorded
until the allowable maximum credit is earned. Subsequent grades in the
same course will be converted to “R” (example: an Applied
Music course that may be repeated up to six times will have the grade
converted to “R” when it is completed the seventh time).
9. Please
note the following: Repeats of courses taken before the 1983 fall quarter
may not be reflected. If you believe the Repeat has not been identified,
contact the Records office at (630) 942-2440/2445.
10. Beginning
with the 1985 fall quarter, courses numbered below 100 (example: Math
080) earn credit but are not computed in the grade point average. Please
note that credit earned in any course numbered below 100 is not applicable
to any degree or certificate at College of DuPage.
