Your Right to Know

In order to receive an I-20 document for international admission to College of DuPage, U.S. federal immigration regulations require that international applicants must prove adequate financial resources to live and study in the United States for at least one full academic year.

International students in F-1 non-immigrant status are required to register for and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester in order to maintain lawful immigration status. Students admitted for the intensive English Language Institute (ELI) program are required to enroll for a minimum of 18 credits each semester. Attendance during the summer semester is optional, unless summer semester is the first term of attendance, in which case the student must be enrolled full time. The amounts listed below
do not include travel expenses. Students who plan to stay in the United States during the summer will need additional funds for that three-month period.

The estimated expenses below are divided into three categories: 1) Full admission to an Academic Program of Study; 2) Admission to the intensive English Language Institute (ELI); and 3) Conditional acceptance to an Academic Program of Study upon completion of additional English as a Second Language study (see requirements for English proficiency). The tuition rate for all F-1 international students will be assessed at the out-of-state tuition rate, which is currently $359 per credit hour. The tuition for an Academic Program of Study is calculated at $359 per credit hour, multiplied by 12 credit hours, and multiplied again by two academic semesters. The tuition for the English Language Institute (ELI) is calculated at $359 per credit hour, multiplied by 18 credit hours and multiplied again by two academic semesters. The tuition when additional ESL study is required prior to admission to an Academic Program of Study is calculated at $359 per credit hour, multiplied by 18 credit hours, multiplied by one academic semester (estimated minimum of one semester for intensive English language study) plus $359 per credit hour multiplied by 12 credit hours, multiplied by two academic semesters.

Please note: These figures are estimates and are subject to change without notice. All international applicants are required to show the total amount for tuition and fees, books, health insurance and living expenses (even if the student will live with a friend or relative while attending College of DuPage).

If the applicant is married and plans to bring their spouse and/or children, proof of additional funding is required. Please include an additional $3,750 per academic year for a spouse and an additional $2,300 for each child.
