Tips and Tricks For Creating Your Student Profile and Application

Creating Your Student Profile

Use proper capitalization when typing your name: John Smith, not john smith or JOHN SMITH.

Use dashes when typing your phone number: (630) 555-1234. If you don't have a home phone number, type your cell phone number in both the home phone and cell phone boxes to create your profile.

Use slashes in your birthdate: 04/01/1996.

To enter an Illinois high school:

  1. Select “United States.”
  2. Select “Illinois.”
  3. Search for the city in which your high school was located.
  4. Select your school from the drop-down menu.
  5. Click ‘Select’ to close the search box.

To enter a non-Illinois high school:

  1. Select the country in which your high school was located. If necessary, select the state in which your high school was located.
  2. Type the city in which your high school was located.
  3. Click ‘Search.’ (The ‘Results Found’ window will list “No organizations found.”)
  4. Type the name of your school in the “Unlisted School Name and Address” field.

Choose a password question that you can easily remember like:

"What is your mother's maiden name?" or "In what town were you born?"

The password question doesn't need to reference your actual password.
