Black History Month "Expressions" Contest
“If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception; it is a prevailing attitude”. - Colin Powell
All COD students are invited to participate in the 2018 Black History Month “Expressions” contest.
Select a quotation by a great African American that is relevant to the 2018 Black History Month theme “African Americans in Times of War”.
Guided by the quotation you have selected, express yourself. Your expression can take any form – an essay, a story, a piece of art or music, a poem, or any other form of expression.
Your expression will be evaluated based on its impact and on how well it expresses the chosen quote. The judging will not be objective – impress us with your knowledge, insight and ability to communicate ideas and feelings.
Submit your original work in any format (ie – Word document, MP3 file, YouTube video/link, photography, artwork in any medium, etc.). Include your name, student ID, email, and your chosen quotation (with author cited), if it is not evident in your submission.
Review and Award Prizes:
A panel will review and select the top THREE submissions to receive a $500 gift prize each at the closing ceremony on February 26, 2018 in the MAC Lobby, where selections will be featured and if appropriate, published in the Courier Newspaper.
Deadline for all submission: closed
