Occupational Accounting Degree:
The Associate in Applied Science in Accounting (A.A.S.)
degree at College of DuPage prepares students to become accounting
clerks, bookkeepers, junior accountants,
bank tellers, credit analysts, auditing clerks and tax preparers. Job opportunities
exist in accounting firms, manufacturing companies, financial institutions, insurance

Transfer Accounting Program:
An Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree with an emphasis in accounting from
College of DuPage starts students on the road to becoming professional accountants
by
providing the first two years of college coursework. Career opportunities for
professional accountants include public accountant, auditor, tax specialist,
management consultant, Internal Revenue Service agent, financial analyst, credit
analyst, cost accountant and budget analyst. Job opportunities exist in public
accounting firms, manufacturing companies, financial institutions, insurance
companies, service organizations, and not-for-profit and governmental entities.
After completing their initial program of study at C.O.D., many students transfer
to a four-year institution and earn a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Choosing the Right Degree:
Upon completion of an associate degree program in accounting at College of DuPage,
some students decide to continue their education and work towards a baccalaureate
degree before they enter the job market. Often, these students work toward an
Associate in Arts (AA) degree. Other students decide to enter the job market
immediately to pursue a career in accounting. Such students typically work toward
an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree. Each degree has different requirements.
At this point, you may be unable to decide whether you will immediately enter
the job market or continue your education upon completion of an associate’s
degree program in accounting at College of DuPage. Choose your courses carefully.
