Crime Scene Investigation (9th-12thgrade)
10:30 a.m.

Take a walk in the bootie-covered shoes of the real-world professionals who make a career out of solving crimes. Investigate the impact of modern technology, cutting edge techniques of forensic science and explore the role of the forensic scientist in real-life cases.

Prairie Tour (all ages)

Learn about prairie restoration at COD and tour the Ecological Study area, a section of approximately 15 acres of woodland, marsh, and reconstructed prairieland. This is the first of two tours offered during STEM-CON.

Cryptography: Who, Where, and with What?! (5th-8th grade)

Explore the math behind cryptography as you solve a murder mystery by decoding clues! In this workshop, you will also get to design and implement your own secret codes. This workshop is best suited for middle school students.

Chicago Area LEGO User Group "Great Ball Contraption" (age 10+)
1:30 p.m.

Learn what Great Ball Contraption (GBC) is and be able to build your own LEGO GBC module to take home! Included in the cost is the LEGO kit you will use during the workshop and then take home.

Make your Own Fidget Spinner (up to 8th grade; students under 8 years old need an adult helper)
3 p.m.

Do you love fidget spinners? Did you know that you can make your own version using math? Folding a strip of paper into a hexagon can create a paper flexagon that will keep your hands busy and amaze your friends. Learn all about this paper folding technique in this fun workshop!
