Dental Assistant Program Details
It only takes one semester to gain the skills you need for a rewarding career as a dental assistant. COD's Dental Assistant program offers comprehensive and varied training, composed of both classroom and hands-on activities.
Dental assistants provide quality preventive and corrective dental care under direct supervision of the dentist or dental hygienist. The dental assistant is responsible for assisting dentists and dental hygienists with patient care as well as providing certain administrative support to the office. This 240-hour hybrid course prepares you for a job in the field through a variety of teaching methods and externship skills in the lab, and provides the opportunity to practice your skills in the state-of-the-art dental hygiene clinic.
Gain real-world experience through a 120-hour externship, while engaging with peers and instructors through an online platform. 120 externship hours are scheduled to best fit student needs within site availability. Students must have their own transportation and be available to complete the externship.
Tuesday and Thursday, Sept. 4 to Dec. 13, 5 to 9 p.m.
