Description of Organization:
English Language Studies is a specialized language program at College of DuPage that enrolls students from all over the world for the purpose of learning academic English and American culture.
Description of Service Learner Role:
Service learners will work in pairs or small groups with English language students using teacher-directed activities. The service learning students need to be comfortable discussing personal opinions and practices as they relate to their own culture and/or as they relate to American culture. Ideally, the service learning student will be a native speaker of English and will be prepared to model standard forms of English. Familiarity with COD and community resources is also a plus. This placement site is ideal for students who have an interest in traveling abroad or wish to expand their global worldview learning as a result of this experience.
