Writing and Reading Center

The Speech Assistance Area is designed to assist the college and community members in improving their speaking skills. Students, faculty, staff, and private and corporate members of the community are welcome.

Professional coaches are educated and trained to provide personal and group coaching in the following areas:

• Delivery skill building and refinement in areas such as gestures, posture, eye contact, pronunciation, articulation, anxiety control, using visual aids and vocal qualities.

• Speech writing techniques such as topic selection, organization, outlining, research and source crediting.

The lab is equipped with facilities that will assist students, faculty, staff and private and corporate community members with the following:

• Multimedia presentations
• Individual or group recording and playback
• Software for Internet research and document preparation
• Rehearsal

The Speech Assistance Area is located in The Academic Support Center of the Berg Instructional Center (IC 3040) on the Glen Ellyn campus.
