Opening Banquet
Attention all gangsters, flappers, G-men and bootleggers! This year’s opening banquet will have a decidedly Roaring 20s flair. The likes of Al Capone, Eliot Ness, and others left an indelible imprint on the history of St. Charles as well as Chicago. In this spirit, we will be transforming the opening banquet into our own speakeasy. Join in the fun by adding a fedora, feather boa, or other 20s accoutrement to your opening banquet attire. See how the Roaring 20s and the “SpeakEasy life” is inextricably linked to St. Charles by visiting their web site at www.st-charles.il.us/tourism.htm.
Team Photos:
A photographer will be available at the opening banquet to take instant photos of your team using an antique finish — perfect for that SpeakEasy feel. Photos will also feature the event name and date. Each team will be given one photo as a "Welcome to Phi Rho Pi" gift courtesy of the College of DuPage Department of Student Activities. Additional photos can be obtained for $7 per photo.

Slam Poetry Night
Friday Night, April 17
Flex your skills that may one day pay the bills!
This incredible art form started in Chicago and Forensics has a tradition of producing some of the most successful performance poets in the country.
Bring your original work to compete in a performance poetry competition. No props, costumes or musical accompaniment. It’s just you and a mike and random judges who you don’t have to be nice to. Pathetic prizes will be awarded, because the point isn’t the prize, it’s the poetry. Have 2 pieces of 3 minutes or less prepared if you wish to compete. Sign-up will be open a half-hour before the show.
Hosted by HBO Def Poet Joel Chmara. Special guests will include some of Chicago’s best poets. Do not miss this night of all things Mindblowing and Heartjacking!
