Like "Patches" and "The Pickup," "Endless Sleep" is a boy's lament about the suicide of his girlfriend after a fight. This again shows the melodramatic importance placed on teen romance in the songs of the early rock 'n' roll era. Unlike the other two songs, this one ends on a happy note as the boy is able to save her from the "angry sea." |
