All-USA Academic Team Winner
Nahiris Bahamon (center) and Sandy Kim (right) are introduced
by Jocelyn Harney, vice president, Enrollment and Student Affairs,
as members of the All-USA Community and Junior Colleges Academic Team,
sponsored jointly by USA Today, the American Association of Community
Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa. Bahamon was named to the second team
and Kim to the third team. Only 60 students from 1,600 nominees nationwide
are selected for first, second and third team honors. Both were recognized
during the April 24 Board of Trustees meeting.

Outstanding Faculty
Members
Mary Beth Leone (left), professor of Hotel and Lodging Management,
is congratulated by President Sunil Chand as the overall Full-Time Faculty
Member of the Year. Criteria for the recognition - which includes a
$500 cash award from the C.O.D. Foundation - includes excellence in
teaching, service to the unit or college, scholarly activity, community
service and advising. Other faculty recognized included (from left)
Katrina M. Nagle, Assistant Professor of Engineering, Outstanding Faculty
Adviser of the Year, and Divisional Outstanding Faculty members Keith
Krasemann, Professor of Philosophy, Liberal Arts; Marianne Berger, Professor
and Reference Librarian, Library; and Nancy Webb, Professor of English,
Liberal Arts.

National Cooperative
Education Student Achievement Award
Jordan Glover (right) is congratulated by Student Trustee Hope
Whitten (left) and Jocelyn Harney, vice president, Enrollment and Student
Affairs, for receiving the National Cooperative Education and Internship
Association Two-Year Program Student Achievement Award. Glover, a Journalism
student, interned at The Courier, C.O.D.'s student newspaper, first
as News Editor and currently as Editor-in-Chief. She plans to transfer
to Roosevelt University in Chicago to major in journalism.

Student Essay Contest
Winners
Amy Rollins (center) and Emily Shields (right) are congratulated
by Student Trustee Hope Whitten for their winning essays in the annual
student essay contest. Sponsored by the Illinois Community College Trustees
Association (ICCTA), the contest is held every year at C.O.D., with
the winning essay competing in statewide competition in May. Rollins
took first place and Shieds second.

Women's Basketball
Cris Cotton (left) lauds the triumph of the College of DuPage women's
basketball team, which took third place at the National Junior college
Athletic Association Division III Tournament. Team member Bonnie Nge
(center), named Most Valuable Player during the Region IV Tournament,
and Paul Zakowski, C.O.D. athletic director, hold trophies earned by
the team this season.

2008 Outstanding
Graduates
Blaire Hufford (center) and Bert Novak (right) are recognized by
Jocelyn Harney, vice president, Enrollment and Student Affairs, as this
year's Outstanding Female and Male Graduates. Hufford is a Psychology
major with a 3.86 GPA who will transfer to Elmhurst College to double
major in psychology and religion. Novak has a GPA of 3.83 and plans
to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to major in finance.
Each will speak at Commencement on May 16 and will receive a $250 honorarium
from the C.O.D. Foundation.

Student Trustee Hope
Whitten
President Sunil Chand (left) reads a proclamation honoring student
trustee Hope Whitten in recognition of her service on the Board of Trustees
during the past year. Whitten's term ended on April 24, when she said
goodbye and thanked board members for their guidance and support.

WDCB Chicago Music Award
Scott Wager (right), station manager for WDCB, receives congratulations
from Chuck Currier, vice president of Information Technology, for
WDCB's top honor achieved during the recent Chicago Music Awards.
WDCB was named the Most Popular Community/College Radio Station in
the Chicago area.

New Student Trustee Sworn In
Malek Zoubi of Lombard (left) is congratulated by Karen Neely,

National Weather Service Storm Ready
Certification
College of DuPage staff members proudly display signs designating
the school as "Storm Ready." The National Weather Service's
StormReady program recognizes communities that have severe weather-related
communication and safety tools in place. On hand at the April 24 Board
