At the McAninch Arts Center Buffalo Theatre Ensemble presents Visiting Mr. Green by Jeff Baron, directed by Susan Padveen. When busy young executive Ross almost runs down an elderly Mr. Green, part of his community service sentence is to visit the aged man once a week. Recently widowed, Green lives alone in his New York apartment and resents the sentence as much as Ross does. Ultimately, the relationship grows from antagonism to support and acceptance in this heartwarming, provocative tale of intergenerational friendship. "… the accidental friendship between an old Jewish man and a young Jewish man, each with a …secret … The comedy is of a gentle sort - Mr. Baron is himself no harsh judge …" -N.Y. Times. This Psalmfest includes Bach's motet Lobet den Herrn; Brahms' Schaffe in mir Gott; Hebrew Psalm suite Sheeru Ladonye Sheer Chadash for choir and harp by Srul Irving Glick; other psalm-settings from the Renaissance, early America and the present; and Spirituals drawn from psalm texts. Gahlberg Gallery Art Exhibit Parameters of Preciousness. Does something have to be rare or costly to be precious? When something is beloved or dear, isn't it also precious? No other art form deals with preciousness like art jewelry. From materials to final product, it affects how the art looks, feels and sells. What happens when artists who traditionally negotiate "preciousness" challenge its essence? This show is the result of that exploration. He has recorded with bluegrass artist Greg Cahill, for children with Steve Rashid, and with rising songwriter Alice Peacock. A student of the legendary Jethro Burns, Don played with Burns' quartet and shared stages with Chet Atkins, Special Consensus and Johnny Gimble, among many others.
