At the McAninch Arts Center DuPage Opera Theatre presents Carmen, by Georges Bizet. Sung in French with English subtitles. Insane jealousy never sounded so extraordinary! Carmen warns the men she has no steady heart, but when Don Jose falls for her, it is to the death, and she is the one who needs warning. Make the summer heat hotter by witnessing passions spinning out of control. DuPage Opera Theatre is one of five resident professional ensembles at the MAC. McAninch Arts Center, Mainstage, 8 p.m. tickets $35/40. For ticket information, call (630) 942-4000.

Gahlberg Gallery Art Exhibit Kevin Hamilton: Department of RhythmanalysisDuPage Alert System. The Department of Rhythmanalysis implements site-specific alarm systems that monitor the status of a variety of remote and local conditions. Coincidental events at home and abroad are announced through an audible alert - more frequent changes are indicated through a series of analog visual indicators. Through this and other efforts, the Department explores the potential of examining irregular temporal events as rhythmic, and thus more capable of change. Gallery hours: Mondays to Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; also open during Mainstage events and by appointment. At the McAninch Arts Center Buffalo Theatre Ensemble presents Communicating Doors by Alan Ayckbourn, directed by Steve Scott. A London sex specialist from the future stumbles into a murder plot that sends her traveling back in time. She and two women who were murdered two decades earlier race back and forth in time, trying to rewrite history and prevent their own violent ends. This is an intricate time-traveling comic thriller from the British master of farce. "A real knockout … A vastly entertaining blend of drawing room thriller with old time plays. Of course, Ayckbourn has added innumerable piquant and bizarre details of his own … a show to see." — N.Y. Post. Buffalo Theatre Ensemble is one of five resident professional ensembles at the MAC.
