The Arts Center Jazz
Ensemble presents Kurt Elling. Ground-breaking jazz artist
and six-time Grammy nominee Kurt Elling re-energizes the jazz genre
by injecting poetry, image and sometimes movement. Resurrecting the
art of vocalese, he fuses not only his own lyrics, but also the poetry
of Rilke, Proust and Kerouac into standard and original compositions,
creating a new version of jazz in performance. London's Guardian declared,
"Elling is an omnicompetent artist of almost ruthless efficiency € truly
a musical performance." Co-sponsored by 90.9FM WDCB. The Arts Center
Jazz Ensemble is one of five resident professional ensembles at the

SIMPARCH and Paul Cekan present an overview of recent discoveries of
ancient icon codes that relate meaning across the ages, the cultures
and the minds of alien thinkers. Like matching up pieces in picture
